How to Get the BEST Wedding Photos!

Have you been dreaming about your wedding day for years? Created endless Pinterest boards, mood boards to plan every last detail from the dress, veil, makeup look, centrepiece, venue, songs… and now the time has finally arrived! It’s your time to shine and bring those dreams to life but with all the work and preparation… you UNDERSTANDABLY want to make sure that you have every detail captured by your wedding photographer.

Here are 5 way to make sure you have the BEST wedding pictures!

  1. Schedule an Engagement Photography Session

Schedule an engagement session WITH your wedding photographer. this is sooo important. many times people will schedule an engagement session with a photographer but later end up hiring a different photographer for the wedding. At the time, you might not have thought of how booking the engagement session with your actual wedding photographer would be beneficial but it will help understand how to work with each other seamlessly on your wedding day! Bonus… most photographer like me include a complimentary engagement session in their wedding photography packages for this very reason!

  2. Do a Hair and Makeup Trial

Take the time to do a makeup and hair trial! I even suggest doing this before your engagement session, this way you’ll know exactly how that look photographs and if you like it! You’ll be looking at your wedding pictures for the rest of your life, you want to make sure they are timeless and you look/feel your best!

  3. Start Early And Take Your Time

The worst thing you can do is rush through your day or start getting ready too late and need to skip important moments you wanted to share with loved ones or feel to rush to get those extra couple pictures with your family/friends. Your wedding day should be fun!

  4. Know What Your Key Photos Are

Before your wedding day, go over key photos you’d like your photographer to capture on your wedding day. Like other photographers, I keep the list of must have pictures with me and I will ENSURE they are taken for you. The worst feeling is receiving your pictures and realizing you forgot an important photo you really wanted.

  5. Pick the RIGHT Venue for YOUR Style

Picking a venue that fits the photography style you like. This is a big one! The venue style will influence the look of your pictures. Pick a location that has locations you’d want to be photographed in! If you want a few pictures inside you’ll need to consider the lighting too!

BONUS TIP : When you’re walking down the aisle, signing papers, walking with your new spouse. LOOK UP, we often forget and look at our feet or keep looking down but take the moment to look up for a few pictures.
