How to Pick a Branding Photoshoot Location

You’re ready to start the photoshoot planning process and now it’s time for us to find a location. AWESOME! Picking a location is such a big part of the photography session planning process for any type of photography shoot! Many factors will come into play when picking the right location but here are a few key elements you’ll want to factor in.

Image Variety

Depending on the shoot type you are planning, you may want to consider a location that has multiple settings for your pictures. Choosing a versatile location or space can give us the opportunity to create more of a variety of content or pivot if we aren’t getting the shot we want in that particular setting.

Time of Day

If we’re doing an outdoor session we’ll want to think of what the location looks like during each time of day. Where is the sun, how busy is the spot and will the lighting work with us or against the look we are aiming for!

Aesthetic of the Space

If you like a certain look or you want pictures to reflect your brand aesthetic you’ll want to pick a location that is neutral where we can bring in the colours and accessories to create a one of a kind look. Somewhere dark and moody won’t be the best place to create light and airy images.

Natural Lighting

When you’re weighing out your options, you’ll want to consider the amount of natural light the space has. Although as a professional photographer we can find a way to make the space work it’s always nicer to have a space with natural light. A well lit area won’t require much light equipment set up which will save you time to get as many pictures done!

All in all, you’ll want to pick a location you love no matter what kind of photoshoot you’re planning! This makes for a happier more relaxed shoot and that’s what will make your pictures stand out!
