Top Holiday Photography Tips

For many, this holiday season is going to look very different. The current pandemic has changed our way of living and celebrating. What better way to document this time in our lives than by letting the pictures we take tell our story!

Here are my top 3 holiday photography tips

Don’t miss a beat shoot continuously

If you want to make sure to capture the exact moment of surprise act fast by shooting continuously.

If you’re using your iPhone simply keep your finger on the picture trigger when you want to take a picture. This will shoot continuously and create a burst of images. You can then pick which image you like better after. Another option is to set your camera on video mode and start recording. You will see a white circle on your screen which you can use to take pictures while taking a video.

Capture the laughter and the joy

The best moments are the real moments. Don’t be shy to take pictures of your family when they aren’t expecting it while walking hand-in-hand outdoors on a snowy day, playing a game of peek-a-boo or decorating cookies at the kitchen island... These pictures will bring you back to those moments every time you look at them!

Self-Timers ROCK

Now a days, whether you are using a camera or your phone’s camera you can use the self-timer. This will give you the opportunity to include everyone in the shot including yourself! Gather everyone around and cozy up for a group picture. Tripods come in handy for this however if you don’t have one simply put your device on a stack of books or shelf. Make sure to set it at eye level.

Lastly, the most important tip of them all, take the pictures that are important to you but remember to be present and enjoy it as well. The holiday season is only as magical as we make it.

Happy Holidays!
