I Finally Updated MY Own Headshot - Carleton Place and Ottawa Headshot Photographer
When you think of updating your headshot, do you think to yourself… What a daunting task that I don’t really want to do so you look through pictures you might be able to crop and use instead of having to take the time to schedule a headshot photographer to take your portrait, figure out what you’ll wear, figure out how to do your hair for a headshot picture… and the list of thoughts go on. Because honestly… even as a photographer THOSE ARE MY THOUGHTS!
I love taking pictures of my clients, friends and family but I really don’t like being in the pictures. But you know, it really doesn’t need to be so painful. It can actually be a lot of fun and empowering! Something that sets a professional photographer apart from your friend taking a picture with your smart phone is the knowledge to pose you properly, perfect the lighting and to make you feel comfortable because that’s what we do!
Headshot photography is an art, it seems simple but it’s actually quite technical! Depending what your needs are you may need to follow a certain look or you might need the ability to remove a background to use a corporate digital background.
How often do you need a new headshot?
As often as you want really but here are a few signs you might need a new headshot picture taken.
It’s been over 2 years since your last updated headshot picture was taken.
You’ve changed your look.
You’ve changed professions or you’ve gotten a promotion. (LEVEL UP THAT PIC!)
You need a variety. This one was my sign - my last headshot looked like me but it was clearly a fall setting which felt funny using in the middle of winter on a social media post.
If you cropped people out of your picture you’re using.
