How to Plan a Successful Company Photoshoot
Organizing a company or office photography session isn’t as easy as simply booking a photographer. A lot of pre-planning goes into a successful company photography session. As a professional photographer, here are steps I encourage clients to follow when planning their photoshoot.
1 - Determine the Objective for the Photography Session
What is the plan for these photos, where will they be used? Will they be used on the company website, used as social media content, for marketing material, etc… The reason this is important is because the images taken/needed might be different and you don’t want to waste your time taking photos that aren’t useful to you.
2 - The Budget and Picking the Right Photographer
Determining your budget before booking your session is important because it will help you narrow down the right photographer within your budget. Once you determine the budget you are comfortable with you’ll want to pick a photographer who has the skills to capture the images you're looking for. For example, if you’re hoping to have corporate photos taken on location, you’ll require a photographer with experience doing professional portrait photography that has the lighting equipment to shoot on location. If you’re hoping to include product photos or lifestyle photography shots you’ll need to find a photographer who can capture the story of your brand.
4 - Find Inspiration for Your Photoshoot
Take the time to create a vision board of what you’d like your photo gallery to look like and share it with your photographer. Make sure to include branding colours! This will help the photographer ensure they can bring your vision to life!
5 - Choosing the Right Background
What story are you trying to tell with your photos? Headshot backgrounds can vary and give a different style to the photos. Would you like to use a backdrop that could easily be replicated when new team members need photos or would you like to use your office as the background.
6 - Important Information to Give Your Photographer Before the Scheduled Photography Session
The first thing you’ll want to confirm is the number of people who will participating in the photography session to ensure enough time is scheduled for everyone to have their photo taken. Second, the number of groups photos and smaller group photos (example: admin group, group of hygienist, group of dentist).
The key to a successful company or business photography session is planning and communicating your goal with your photographer. If you’re ready to start planning your next office photoshoot let’s chat!
