The POWER of the Headshot!!

I always say to my business photography clients that headshots are very important to update when we plan our shoots. If your content was a book your headshot would 1000% be your cover!!

Here is the thing, we often hide our headshot picture on our about me page just to say we have it and it’s there for no one to see unless someone goes looking for it. In reality it needs to be on the FRONT PAGE! It needs to claim it’s spot on your home page TODAY. While you’re at it update you social media profile picture using your headshot as well or a variation of it if you have one.

Yesterday, I was driving my son to daycare and noticed a billboard sign for a real estate agent on it… This is nothing out of the ordinary, this is something we see all the time. In this scenario though the headshot wasn't very big and I instantly recognized it! I didn’t see the name, logo or company name but the quick glimpse of the recognizable headshot I saw and knew exactly who it was. Not because we've worked together but because she often comments on posts in a local mom group I’m a member of on Facebook! That’s crazy right?! Instantly it was recognizable, she was relatable to me as another local mom and it effortlessly gave me confidence in her as a real estate agent because I felt like I knew her. This is the power of marketing! Brand recognition is important - pictures play a BIG part in it and we need to put the effort into it especially now!

Listen, I know headshots aren’t the funnest type of shoot to plan or most exciting part of the session. It can be intimidating and uncomfortable for anyone but with the right photographer it truly becomes effortless.
